AEC Collection – Just Got BetterCassandra Vagher
When Autodesk discontinued the Design Suites to be replaced by the AEC Collections there were a couple of changes that promised to be a good thing in the future. One of those was the way the products were delivered. The Design Suites had a packaged download and install which made the installation process easier, but being able to add components to the Design Suite was laborious, and as a result was not widely done. With the Collections, the products are all individual downloads and installs, so adding additional products to the collection is easier, and Autodesk has just done that: added several applications to your AEC Collection!
The AEC Collection is a combination of the former Infrastructure Design and Building Design Suites. Although we now have a plethora of software available to us, there are some other Autodesk applications that would be nice to have to aid in the design-to-construction workflow of many companies. The benefit of owning the AEC Collection has just been realized as Autodesk has added applications and services that will grant access to software for analysis, visualization, detailing and fabrication without changing the current price of your AEC Collection software.
The products that have been added to the AEC Collection and are available via your Autodesk Account beginning September 7, 2017 include:
Autodesk Advance Steel – Detailing software built on the AutoCAD platform. Structural engineering professionals use the software to help accelerate design, steel detailing, steel fabrication, and steel construction.
Autodesk Fabrication CADmep – Software that uses manufacturer-specific content to create more accurate detailed models, generate better estimates, and help drive MEP fabrication.
Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis Professional – Test the effects of structural loads and verify code compliance using advanced BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools.
Autodesk Dynamo Studio – Dynamo Studio is a stand-alone programming environment that enables designers to create visual logic to explore parametric conceptual designs and automate tasks.
Autodesk Revit Live – Revit® Live cloud service turns Revit and Revit LT models into an immersive experience in one click, helping architects understand, explore, and share their designs.
Autodesk Structural Bridge Design – Perform integrated loading, analysis, and code checking of small to medium-span bridges.
If your company is one of the early adopters of the “switch” from the Design Suites to the AEC Collection, know that you chose wisely, and now you get to reap the benefits of that choice.
